I gave up on all news.
No papers.
No 10 o'clock news.
No BBC news website.
I took the decision to avoid news as a form of entertainment.
I used to buy my Sunday's papers and read it through on a Sunday early afternoon to catch up on the rest of the world, in case I missed out.
And the news never brought me any glimpse of hope; I was just riding the emotional lows of the stories.
I was led to believe that I needed to be up to date with the world events in order to function in society.
I was led to believe that news were important and helped me to shape my mind as a free thinker.
I discovered that this was not true.
I have instead decided to read books or engaging with my family and friends in some meaningful and fun conversations.
After all, why would I want to watch the 10 o'clock news just before bad time!!!
So I made the conscious decision to tune out from the news and be completely free from the worlds events of politics, death and destruction.
And what happened since then?
Nothing.
A part from feeling light and empowered all the time.
I felt OK about living in a world without a daily download.
When you tune out from the news, you will probably feel anxious that you are missing out on something.
Quickly you will discover that, if anything does relate to you, someone will tell you about it.
After a while you will be pleasantly surprised at how much energy you once gave to this kind of entertainment.
We live in a world where the power of a digital media can hold our attention indefinitely as we scroll and click endlessly between world events and social gossips.
I value my time.
And I am sure you do too.
So anything that distracts me from my mission, task, project and make me derail, makes me scared or reduces my ability to pursue my dream, has to be blocked out.
Since 2018, I finally came to realise that my own life is more important than the stories presented to me by some newsreader or social media.
I focus on my own life and when I do that I am newsworthy myself.
My life has becoming more interesting.
I put more value on my own unfolding story.
That's why I am here.
To support your personal and professional development.
To encourage you to live your life and not somebody else's.
Remember, your daily actions shape your identity and your environment.
Change is possible,
That's all for this week.
Much love,
Paolo
